Frequently asked questions

Straight answers about free QR codes that are actually yours.

Do these QR codes expire?

No. Static QR codes from ScanArtist.io encode your data directly and are generated entirely in your browser. There is no third-party URL that can be switched off, so a printed code keeps working forever.

Is ScanArtist.io really free?

Yes — free forever, with no paywall and no account. Every feature is available to everyone. There is only an optional Buy Me a Coffee link that gates nothing.

Do my QR codes redirect through your servers?

No. Unlike many 'free' generators, static codes never route through a redirect domain we control. The QR contains your data directly, so nobody can disable it or hold it hostage for payment.

Do you track scans or require a sign-up?

No sign-up is needed to generate and export static codes, and nothing is uploaded — generation happens 100% in your browser. Any future scan analytics apply only to optional dynamic codes and would be opt-in and GDPR-compliant.

What formats can I download?

PNG, JPG, WebP, SVG, PDF and EPS — all produced client-side — plus print-ready PDF at an exact physical size, one-click copy-to-clipboard, and batch export to a ZIP.

What can I encode in a QR code?

A URL, plain text, Wi-Fi credentials, a vCard contact, email, SMS, WhatsApp, a calendar event, a geo location, cryptocurrency requests, and real country-specific bank/wallet payments (SEPA, UPI, Pix, PromptPay, PayNow, VietQR, PayPal/Venmo/Cash App).

Can I add a logo and custom colours?

Yes — embed a centre logo, set colours and gradients (on the modules, background, eyes and frame), choose module and finder-eye shapes, and more. A live scannability check and a real scan self-test help make sure a styled code still reads reliably.

Does it work offline?

Yes. ScanArtist.io is an installable PWA with a service worker, so once loaded the whole generator keeps working with no network — a direct demonstration of the "no middleman" promise.
